THE REASON I STARTED A BLOG...

The more and more I became obsessed with social media, I always wondered what it would be like to have my own blog. A place where I can write about whatever's on my mind and show other people my interests/what things I'm loving has been something that has interested me for quite some time. As I've only just started, this is just a hobby at the moment because I work full time. Along with every other blogger on the same wave length as me, has the dream of being able to do this as a career but I know it isn't just handed to me and that it's a LOT of hard work and effort.

I was always on the fence about creating a blog because I was worried about what people would think. Now that I've left school and I've grown up a bit, I now don't really care about anyone's negative opinions and thoughts they might have about this and I'm doing it for me, which is how it should be! But yeah, enough rambling and on to what actually got me finally overcoming my fears and going for it!

As I've already said, blogging has always been something I've wanted to do. Basically what happened was I was actually off my work on sick leave for a month. I had a Breast Augmentation at the beginning of November of 2016 which obviously left me practically bed bound for at least half of the time I was off. This caused me to spend practically ALL of my time either sleeping or on my phone/laptop, as it was hard to get up and walk around or do certain things around the house. I know that this is a bit personal and some of you are probably thinking "why are you telling everyone this? " but it's something that I'm soooo open about and couldn't care less about the bad things anyone has to say about it and it's also something that no one should be ashamed about! Anyways, on one of those boring nights I was literally making lists in my head of the things I can do to pass time, and to no surprise creating a blog was one of them. I simply googled "how to make a blog" and tonnes of website builders appeared and I chose to make my blog with "Wix". As I was only playing around with the site (mainly because I had no idea how to actually use it), I didn't publish anything until I sussed it out. I just remember telling my friends, "so...I started a blog" and they almost didn't believe me!

I wanted to base my blog on beauty, fashion and lifestyle, mainly because I'm not an expert in any of them to only focus on one. Also, it gives me more ideas for blog posts! I thought I'd try and reach out to some bloggers I like so I messaged fashion blogger, Caitlin Heath through Depop asking for some advice and if she had any tips on how she makes her blog grow and get noticed. She was soooo helpful and lovely and I definitely learned a few things from her. One of the things she said that I'll have to try and do is use my Instagram to sort of help get my blog noticed. Things like taking your page off of private and tagging clothing websites in your posts if you're wearing any of their pieces, in hopes that you might get reposted which obviously gets you more followers on both your insta and blog! Such amazing advice but it scared me a bit when I first read it because no one who follows me on Instagram knows about my blog (yet) and will probably think "who does she think she is? " or "wtf is she doing? " hahahaha! However, like I said to Caitlin, I'm slowly working on it and starting to let more and more people know about my blog! But I want to say thanks to Caitlin and I really appreciate her getting back to me (click her name above that's in bold to go directly to her blog page and show some loveeeeee)..... Although this just started as a private thing for me to do in my spare time to keep me busy and to stop me from literally going insane with boredom when I was off work, I've really enjoyed doing it and I've had some really nice feedback which obviously makes me more motivated to keep going! The biggest hurdle for me so far was (and still is) getting over what other people might think because I know not everybody has a blog because it is a bit different/maybe even unusual, but that's also another reason why I wanted to give it a try :)

But yeah, that's basically how I came about creating my blog! Thanks for spending the time to read this and I hope I've helped motivate at least someone, thankssssss xoxo
